"Enter His gates with Thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name.” Psalm 100:4
As 2014 comes to a close, I’ve been sitting in the presence of Jesus reflecting on the many blessings He has bestowed upon me this year. My heart and mind are filled with the wonderful things from Him of family, friends, abilities, health, ministry, and time. It was so very good to do this because life gets overwhelming and busyness takes precedence.
Busyness seems to bring with it a plethora of negative circumstances which can rob us of joy and cause us to forget God’s many benefits.
Sarah Young in Jesus Calling (page 342) offers an antidote to negativity. She encourages us, as we go through the day, “ to look for the tiny treasures that Jesus has placed strategically along the way.” Sarah exhorts us to “look carefully for them, and pluck them one by one. When we reach the end of the day, we will have gathered a lovely bouquet. Offer it up to Him with a grateful heart.”
Since reading this, I’ve been drawing bouquets of gratitude in a journal that have been collected on my daily journeys. These garlands have been crafted by the Creator, just for me, and are absolutely exquisite! The journal pages are not necessarily filled with the flowers I would have chosen for myself but are the ones that Jesus planted in advance for me to find.
If you were given the opportunity to peak into my gratitude journal, one particular page might be of interest. This bouquet is a gorgeous blend of vibrant colors, interesting textures, and unique design. The posies were chosen and placed together because they represent the Women of WOW. These ladies are the hands and feet of Jesus Christ working together, giving of their time, treasure, and talent to serve the poor and oppressed. I’m honored and deeply grateful to work alongside of these dedicated Board Members, Daughters and Friends of WOW. Thanks to each and every one for a fantastic 2014 as God continues to do an amazing work through WOW.
Wishing you a Blessed New Year full of beautiful bouquets from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
