It's amazing what God can do in our lives when we say yes to the little things. I was serving dinners on a Wednesday night at The Chapel. It was like a cafeteria line where we handed the diners a tray with their meal on it. One of the diners came through and started a conversation with a volunteer who was dishing out food. She was talking about a knitting ministry.
I like to knit, so I started asking questions. The ladies invited me to join them once a month.
I said yes.
That yes led to learning more about about the purses the women in Mozambique had knitted. Members of The Chapel had taught the Mozambicans how to knit the purses in hopes of helping them establish a sustainable microenterprise in their village. Those knitting sessions sparked more conversations about purses. Soon, I uttered a few more little yeses, which led to my getting involved in The Very Special Purse Parties I, II and now III.
Those little yeses also led to lasting friendships with women who love Christ and enrich my life every day by knowing them. By saying yes I also learned God's purpose for me to help others locally and abroad and thus spread the news of Jesus' love and sacrifice for us.
I may not be able to serve abroad as a missionary; but I can sew, knit and support missions by attending the Very Special Purse Party III. How about you? What little yes might you utter to God today?
(Editor's Note: If you would like to attend the Very Special Purse Party III, please see the Events page.)
