God moves and works in some amazing ways and all we have to do is keep our eyes open to things around us.
This past winter my husband and I stopped in at a clothing store that I have never been in before. The associates were friendly and as I approached the check-out counter to make my purchase, the store manager excused herself to take a phone call. She hung up a few minutes later and looked troubled. I asked her what was going on and she said that every quarter they donate clothing that hasn't been sold. They give to several different organizations, but the person who was supposed to pick up that quarter's donations wasn't going to make it because of a snowstorm. She wasn't sure what she was going to do with all the boxes of things in the back. That's when she asked, "Do you know of an organization that would take these things to help oppressed women?"
Immediately I answered her saying, "Yes, as a matter of fact, I do know of a group of women from the Akron area that help empower and encourage women while teaching them about Jesus Christ." I had copies of the last few issues of Sew and Sow in my car and we had a lengthy conversation about WOW, our mission and what we do. She was so excited to learn about our local group that she donated four giant boxes of clothing and accessories to WOW. Some of these were used to raise funds for Open M (open.org) and some of the items will used at the Very Special Purse Party III in November.
The store manager was pleased to donate the items, and I walked away excited about how God directed our paths to cross so providentially. There are so many possibilities like this when we are willing to share and talk to others.
And if you're ever in the WestLake area, stop by Evereve and thank them for their generosity
to help women who are less fortunate. They are doing some great things and their shop is lovely!
