"Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest." John 4:35
"At Harvest Home we were hearing that we were special, that we mattered and that we had a future. We were reminded that God really does love us." - Jennifer, former Harvest Home resident
As part of WOW's Handbags from the Heart to local ministries, purses were delivered to Harvest Home in time for Christmas. Although the bags contained a bible, devotional and various toiletries, they were filled with prayers of love and hope for each woman that God chose to receive them.
Harvest Home was opened in February 1979 due to the increasing need to shelter women and children in crisis situations. The services provided by Harvest Home fall into three categories: Relief, Rehabilitation and Development. It is a comprehensive, evangelistic ministry whose purpose is to glorify God by providing Christ-centered support and programs. It not only affords the practical services of shelter, food and clothing, but offers emotional and spiritual support through counseling, daily bible study, devotions, education, career and life skills development and much more! Harvest Home's Children's Ministry also gives homeless children the love, care, and attention they need in a safe environment and helps to lead them to develop fruitful lives.
“The women loved the purses and what was inside them!" said Yvette McMillan, Director of Women's Division, who has been with the ministry for 26 years.
