Rahab Ministry

“Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.” Luke 12:33 NIV

This past Fall, WOW collected more than 300 beautiful purses that were then filled with donated hygiene products, a Bible, a devotional, a WOW journal and several other gifts. These “Handbags from the Heart” were then given to four local ministries as Christmas gifts to the women that they serve. Rahab Ministries was one of these.

Since 2002, Rahab has shown the love of Jesus to women and girls caught in human trafficking, drugs, alcohol, and various criminal activities. Through the leadership of Becky Moreland, they provide basic necessities and Bible teaching while creating meaningful relationships with women who have been discarded, rejected, and scorned by society.  Thousands of women have been cared for in the name of Jesus Christ and many have come to know freedom through His redemption and saving grace.

Rahab has many outlets for helping the women of greater Akron such as a Street Ministry/Strip Club Outreach, Pen Pal Opportunities, the Drop-In Center, Correctional Facility Bible Studies, Youth & Adult Mentoring, as well as a Safe House for trafficking victims. They regularly offer Volunteer and Essential Training sessions for anyone who wants to come alongside the work they are doing, and they even have some scheduled for January.  If you’d like to learn more about these trainings or Rahab in general, visit www.rahab-ministries.org.
