The bee hive is a fascinating look into a colony of bees that all participate in different activities to sustain and maintain the bee hive. Each member has distinct but equally important duties, without which the hive will cease to exist.
I think 1 Corinthians 12:4 could have been written about a bee hive, as well, and we can learn a lesson from them. I am not an idea person, but I am glad to be a worker bee! Like the bees we are members of one body in which Jesus Christ is the head. We each have different gifts, and we are dependent upon each other for growth, power and bearing fruit.
I just love Gini Thompson! When she showed me her journals in 2015, I bought five of them on the spot. Linda Edwards, another WOW sister, thought they were such a great idea, too.
"I just like journals,” Linda says. “When I went to Israel I got one, and when I went to Europe I got one. They are especially great for women that like to write for bible study or book clubs, and they are so attractive."
Gini enthusiastically shared her desire to use the proceeds for WOW. As they grew in popularity and demand, Linda and I offered our sewing services to Gini. Gini has a true talent for putting the fabrics together for us. We do not have to think about coordinating the different colors and fabrics -- which would have driven me crazy and added many hours to the project. She handed us pre-designed kits so we were free to just sew -- which Linda and I both love doing! Gini's neighbor, Kim, added the finishing touches --God's perfect assembly line!
“Being part of this small group has been so rewarding and helped to accomplish Gini's vision to use them as the Lord leads her,” Linda says. “While we did not come up with the idea, look what can be done when we work together with the talents we have. It reminds me of Colossians 3:23 – ‘Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart.’"
I am so glad that Gini came up with this idea and I am grateful that the Lord used my small part. Through the Spirit of God our gifts and talents are used to the glory of God.
